Child Summer Reading Program

June 8 – July 29

  • Children ages 0-11 should register at the Youth Services Desk and pick up their reading logs.
  • Special performances are listed below. Tickets are required and can be received at the Youth Services Desk. Tickets are free, but limited.  See below for more details

Rubber Ducky Club (Ages 0-5)

  • Sign up at the Youth Services Reference Desk anytime after June 8th
  • Track your activities in the log that can be found in the book bag you receive when you register
  • For every 5 activities you complete, bring in the reading log and the Dairy Queen log (also in your book bag) to the library to receive some prizes!

Readers (Kindergarten – 5th grade)

  • Sign up at the Youth Services Reference Desk anytime after June 8th
  • Track your minutes read in your reading log.  This can be found in the book bag you receive when you register
  • For every 30 minutes read, cross out or color a book in the reading log.  When you complete an entire shelf, bring in the reading log and the Dairy Queen log (also in your book bag) to the library to receive some prizes and raffle tickets!
  • We will be giving away two (2) Kindle Fires on Monday, July 31st

 

Summer Performer List 2017

Free tickets will be given out at the Youth Services Reference Desk on a first come, first serve basis beginning 30 minutes prior to show start time.  Tickets can not be reserved.

Animal Quest – Exotic Animal Show

July 5 * 1:30 pm show & 3:00 pm show

Interactive animal presentations with an animal trainer.  See and touch the animals up close!  Take pictures with the animals after the show!

Kids Play – Comedy Theater for Kids

July 12 * 1:30 pm show & 3:00 pm show

Join Thing 3 and 4 as they make a discovery that just might get them the fame they’ve always wanted!

Chris Fascione – Juggling Funny Stories

July 19 * 1:30 pm show & 3:00 pm show

Nationally known story-performer acts out the best of classic and contemporary children’s literature and folktales in his fun-filled participatory shows.  His unique combination of storytelling, mime, juggling and comedy creates colorful characters with creates fun for all!  Don’t miss this one!  He’s like a Robin Williams for kids!

Bugs, Beetles and Bookworms

July 26 * 1:30 pm show & 3:00 pm show

Kids learn the parts of insects and how bugs’ bodies are similar and different than their own!  They’ll meet live insects and discover the bee dance.  They will have special goggles to let participants see the world through a bug’s compound eye!
